Commission opens procedure against Germany for ECB

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 9 - The European Commission "has decided to send a letter of formal notice to Germany for violation of fundamental principles of EU law, in particular the principles of autonomy, primacy, effectiveness and uniform application of Union law," the Commission announced today. The decision is related to the German Federal Constitutional Court decision to hand down a judgement on the Public Sector Purchase Programme (PSPP) of the European Central Bank (ECB) declaring it to be "ultra vires", going beyond its competence, the Commission informed.
