Recovery: S&D, Orban? Weber should be courageous in the EPP

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 24 - The group of S&D Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament asked the European People's Group to take "courageous measures against its political family; otherwise it would lose credibility." The S&D statement relates to the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whose party sits in the EPP, who vetoed, along with Poland, the Council's economic package envisaging the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the Recovery Fund, as opposed to the mechanism on the rule of law. "For months we have been working on the Recovery package - reads an S&D tweet -. Now Weber must take courageous measures against his political family; otherwise, he would lose credibility." According to the Socialists and Democrats, "if the EPP wants to stand up for the rule of law, it must act accordingly." (ANSA).
