Covid-19: Seibert, Germany, evolution is 'disturbing'

(ANSA) - BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 28 - The evolution of the pandemic in Germany is "disturbing," said Angela Merkel's spokesperson, Steffen Seibert, at a press conference in Berlin. Seibert pointed out that in some regions, the number of cases is increasing at the local level, albeit in fits and starts. "We see in some friendly countries where this can lead," he added, again calling for compliance with the measures and rigorous action against the pandemic. "We are not powerless, but we must be consistent." According to Bild online, Merkel expressed her concern to the CDU's presidium this morning, underlining that there could be up to 19,200 new coronavirus cases a day. Seibert did not want to confirm these words, emphasizing that the setting was "an internal party occasion." (ANSA).
