Romania: Nuclearelectrica to cancel deal with China CGN

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 27 - Romania will cancel a deal with the China General Nuclear Power (CGN) for the construction of two reactors at the Romanian Cernavoda nuclear power plant, local media reported today. State-controlled nuclear energy producer Nuclearelectrica will begin talks to terminate the agreement signed with the (CGN) for the construction of reactors 3 and 4, the portal Romania Insider reported, with the Romanian government ready to find new partners for the project. The previous Social Democrat governments pushed for the agreement with the Chinese group, criticized by Romania's strategic partners and by the liberal prime minister Ludovic Orban, Romania Insider recalled.
