(ANSA) - UDINE, 21 SET - Suns Europe, the festival devoted to contemporary artistic production in Europe's minoritized languages, will run from October 2 to 10 in Cormons, San Vito al Tagliamento, Codroipo and Udine. The program includes music, theater and literature, with the final concert set for October 10 at Teatro Nuovo in Udine. The 12th edition will feature artists from Friuli, Sardinia, Catalonia, Galicia, the Basque Country and Wales, as well as from Friuli Venezia Giulia's Slovenian community. The seven bands in the final concert are Ölivias, Zeltia Irevire, Andrea Andrillo, Pokriva Nočiva, Momi, Gwen and RTZ Kolektiboa. "We don't just want to bring Europe to Friuli, but also Friuli to Europe," Carlo Puppo, deputy chairman of the Informazione Friulana cooperative, publisher of Radio Onde Furlane and organizer of the festival, said at the presentation. Friuli Venezia Giulia Deputy Governor Mario Anzil said Suns Europe "reflects the character of a polycentric border region." Udine Culture Councilor Federico Pirone said "minoritized languages are an important key to understanding Europe." Music section artistic director Alessio Velliscig described the lineup as "high-quality and very diverse," with "cultural resistance" emerging as a common theme. The festival opens in Cormons on October 2. Gianfranco Pellegrini's new collection Tiere sidiade will be presented in Codroipo on October 6, followed by a music event at the Ottagono venue on October 9. On October 10, before the final concert, Teatro Nuovo will host the staged musical reading L'om che al plantave arbui, based on a story by Jean Giono, with Massimo Somaglino and Alessio Zoratto.
