(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 27 - Germany is in talks to join Britain's nuclear deterrent, which consists of Trident missiles carried by Royal Navy submarines. This is according to a front-page report in the Daily Telegraph, which quotes diplomatic sources familiar with the ongoing talks between London, Berlin, and Paris. Germany would provide financial assistance as part of efforts to establish a European nuclear umbrella to deter Russia. Given the burden of its past associated with World War II, Germany would prefer to better integrate into the existing British and French deterrents rather than develop its own arsenal, according to the pro-Tory newspaper.
