Greece, taxi drivers on strike against measure promoting electric vehicles

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 17 - The Panhellenic Federation of Taxi Drivers (Poeiata) has called an indefinite nationwide strike beginning today to demand the withdrawal of a bill that will be debated in Parliament in the coming days and, according to workers, puts the industry at risk. The bill specifically requires that all new taxis registered in Greece's largest cities, Athens and Thessaloniki, be electric vehicles. The union believes that the implementation of this requirement should be delayed until charging infrastructure for this type of vehicle is adequately provided in Greek cities. (ANSA).
