Albanian government approves agreement with Italy

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 30 - The Albanian government has approved in principle a strategic cooperation agreement with Italy that will cover at least ten sectors, including healthcare, security and defence, immigration, innovation, and growth. According to government sources in Tirana contacted by ANSA, the document is expected to be signed in Rome in mid-November by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the two countries' first joint meeting since 2010, when they signed the Declaration of Strategic Partnership. The Tirana government stated that the agreement "aims to formalise strategic cooperation and deepen bilateral relations between Albania and Italy, creating a structured framework for the implementation of joint projects and initiatives in various fields." The meeting in Rome is expected to result in the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in various sectors. (ANSA).
