Protests in Serbia, incidents and scuffles in the night

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUL 8 - In Serbia sporadic incidents and scuffles between protesters and police occurred last night on the sidelines of numerous roadblocks implemented by students demanding early elections and the release of their colleagues arrested in previous protests. As the Interior Ministry reported, more than 800 people were identified, and 18 stopped and taken to police stations for questioning. The most significant incidents occurred in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Uzice, with protesters detained for disturbing the peace and violating regulations on free movement and freedom of movement. Yesterday, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic had called for an end to the roadblocks, stressing that they do not constitute a peaceful protest but a clear violation of existing laws and a criminal offense, resulting in sanctions and heavy punitive measures for those responsible. However, the protest is not stopping, and new actions of roadblocks are also scheduled today in Belgrade and other cities across the country. (ANSA).
