Greece moves Patriot missile systems to Crete: media

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 19 - According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Greece has decided to transfer an unknown number of Patriot missile systems to the Hellenic Navy and NATO base on the island of Crete, in the bay of Souda, to protect US targets in the region. Patriots are a surface-to-air guided missile system capable of destroying both aircraft and ballistic missiles, and they are regarded as one of the most important air defence devices. According to Kathimerini, US military activity in the Middle East has increased as tensions have risen in recent days. (ANSA).
