
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 11 - In the first quarter of 2025, irregular crossings of the European Union's external borders decreased by 31%, totalling nearly 33,600 cases. This trend was observed along all of the major migration routes to the EU, with decreases ranging from 64% along the Western Balkans route to 8% along the eastern land border. The Central Mediterranean recorded 8,500 irregular crossings in the first quarter of 2025, a 26% decrease from the first quarter of 2024, according to preliminary data collected by Frontex. (ANSA).
