The Kaki Bike for Peace Project starts from Trieste (Italy)

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 03 AGO - The persimmon tree that survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki in San Giovanni Park in Trieste marks the starting point of the journey for the Kaki Tree Project association. After a stop in Piazza Unità d'Italia, the group will stop in Gorizia. The initiative involves the planting of several persimmons born from the surviving one from Nagasaki in various Italian regions. The journey of the 'paccyclists', as they define themselves, will continue in Chiusaforte (Udine) and then proceed to Villach (Austria), where the first tree was planted at the local civic museum last year. They will continue to Radlje ob Dravi (Slovenia), Graz (Austria), and Langenwang (Austria), arriving on August 9 - the anniversary of the atomic bombing - in Vienna, where a persimmon has been planted in the city park of Blumengärten Hirschstetten; a second will be planted in the area facing the United Nations building.
