Italy to put migration at centre of UN debate - Tajani

(ANSA) - ROME, 17 SET - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Sunday that Italy will make sure the issue of migration is high on the agenda of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly this week. "Departing for New York for the United Nations General Assembly," Tajani said via X. "The government will put the issue of migration at the centre of the debate in order to find shared, effective solutions". Tajani has repeatedly called on the UN and other bodies to be involved in efforts to halt the flow of migrants from North Africa to Italy. "Maybe even Europe is not sufficient to address the migrant question, given what is happening in Africa," Tajani said on Saturday. "Strong action on the international level is needed. "NATO, the United States and the UN must be more present and they must be part of the solution". (ANSA).
