Enhancing future synergy fields was the main topic of the visit to the Council of Europe (CoE) in Strasbourg paid by a CEI Secretariat delegation.
At the gathering, held on 27 and 28 February, the CEI was represented by Roberto Antonione, Special Adviser to the CEI Secretary General, and Ugo Poli, CEI project manager and Focal Point on Migration.
Fruitful talks with top staff representing CoE Departments focused on the new CoE approach to the institutional building of democratic systems and the enforcement of the rule of law.
The participants identified several areas of cooperation between the two parties in the field of migration management: fight against corruption, support for local and regional democracy as well as the causes of populism.
