KEP project between Poland and Ukraine aimed at strengthening administrative structures and regional development: results presented in Poznan

On 27 June 2013 the concluding seminar of the project “Know-how for Donetsk Region – strengthening of administrative structures and regional development in Ukraine” was held in Poznan. The project is supported by the CEI in the framework of the Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP) and co-financed by Italy through the CEI Fund at the EBRD.

The seminar gathered over 60 participants: representatives of Polish and Ukrainian local governments, NGOs, and researchers. The CEI was represented by Mr. Robert Szadurski from the European Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

The project activities aimed at supporting the Association of Local Authorities in Donetsk Region (the Ukrainian know-how beneficiary) in the establishment of regional development instruments for the strengthening of the institutional capacities of the territorial administration through theoretical and practical know-how transfer.

The main output of the project was also presented, namely the “Polish-Ukrainian glossary of basic terms related to regional development and territorial administration”. Funding opportunities for Polish-Ukrainian local governments’ projects were illustrated as well.

The project seminar was organised back to back with the “Polish Conference for International Cooperation of Local Governments” focusing on the Eastern Partnership initiative. In this framework, Mr. Ugo Poli, represented the CEI by actively participating to a discussion panel.
