EU Co-Funded Project ATTAC: Working Group Meeting Hosted by Thessaloniki Public Transport Authority on 26-27 November

A review of the results achieved so far and the planning of future activities were on top of the agenda of the 4th Transnational Working Group Meeting of the ATTAC Project - Attractive Urban Public Transport for Accessible Cities, in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 26-27 November. The meeting was hosted by the Thessaloniki Public Transport Authority.

The CEI as Leader of the Work Package “Extended Transfer Programme to Wider SEE Space” presented the main results of the activities implemented by the project partners during the European Mobility Week which offered the opportunity to promote the importance of sustainable urban mobility and examine the challenges cities and towns are facing in order to induce behavioural change and make progress towards creating a more sustainable transport strategy. In this context, several ATTAC partners (Burgas Municipality, Marche Region, Miskolc Holding, Oradea Local Transport Company, Thessaloniki Public Transport Authority, University of Maribor) introduced to decision-makers, transport operators and other relevant stakeholders project results related to sustainable travelling.   The next project meeting will be held in March 2013 in Oradea (Romania).   * * *   The overall objective of the ATTAC project is to enhance coordination in promoting, planning and operating urban public transport networks in order to better integrate cities and regions into the South East Europe transport backbone and reduce bottlenecks in European transport corridors. Various cities and regional governments from Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece and Bulgaria are involved in the project under the leadership of Miskolc Holding Plc, transport provider of the city of Miskolc, Hungary. ATTAC is funded under the South East Europe Programme and officially started on 1 January 2011. It will last until 31 December 2013.   More information available here.
