KEP Project: Meeting of Coordinators of the National Small Business Act

Within the framework of the project called “Monitoring SME Policy Implementation in the Western Balkans” the Coordinators of the National Small Business Act gathered for their second meeting on 7-8 February 2012 at the OECD-LEED headquarters in Trento.

The Project is coordinated by the OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe (OECD-IC) and co-financed by the CEI under the Know-how Exchange Programme. It aims at supporting the development of high-quality policies for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Western Balkans. Particular attention is paid to the elaboration of the 2011 SME Policy Index, the main monitoring and assessment tool for the SME policy in the region. It was launched in 2006 by the OECD and the European Commission and two assessment cycles were completed between 2006 and 2009.

Attended by representatives of the beneficiary countries, the OECD, the EBRD, the European Commission and the European Training Foundation, the event was an opportunity to analyse and debate key thematic issues on policy elaboration and implementation in relation to the principles covered by the SBA and to examine the policy recommendation and the guidelines the report has to present.   The envisaged total value of the project amounts to 142,858 EUR with a CEI contribution of  40,000 EUR (from the CEI Fund at the EBRD, financed by Italy). The beneficiary countries are the Western Balkans and Turkey.   For more information: www.ceinet.org/KEP
