Eurostat: inflation higher in Romania and Hungary

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 19 AUG - The highest annual inflation rates in the European Union in July 2019 were recorded in Romania (4.1%), Hungary (3.3%), Latvia and Slovakia (both 3.0%), while the lowest annual rates were registered in Portugal (-0.7%), Cyprus (0.1%) and Italy (0.3%), the EU statistical office Eurostat said today. The euro area annual inflation rate was 1.0% in July 2019 (1.3% in June, 2.2% a year earlier), while the European Union annual inflation was 1.4% in July 2019, (1.6% in June, 2.2% a year earlier), Eurostat noted. Bulgaria recorded an inflation rate of 2.6% in July, Czechia 2.6%, Estonia 2.0%, Greece 0.4%, Croatia 0.9%, Lithuania 2.5%, Austria 1.4%, Poland 2.5% and Slovenia 2.0%. (ANSA).
