(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 21 OTT - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will represent Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Berlin Process summit of heads of state and government in Budva, Montenegro, tomorrow morning. The current Montenegrin presidency has organised the summit, according to a note from the Italian Foreign Ministry. The Berlin Process, which was launched in 2014, is an important tool for fostering regional cooperation among the six Western Balkan countries, supporting reform implementation, and advancing their path to European integration. At the summit, the initiative's primary annual political gathering, Tajani will reaffirm Italy's unwavering support for the Western Balkans' European perspective, a strategic priority for Italian foreign policy and a critical investment in the region's and continent's stability, security, and prosperity. The Minister will emphasise the Berlin Process's importance as a tool for improving economic cooperation, connectivity, and regional security, including the establishment of a common regional market and the gradual integration of candidate countries into European Union policies and mechanisms. Furthermore, he will emphasise the need to accelerate the EU accession process based on reform progress, while ensuring that regional tensions do not impede the process of regional reconciliation and European integration.
