Romanian President Dan appoints pro-European Mureșan to form the government

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 SET - Romanian President Nicușor Dan has appointed Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan to try to form a new government and end a political crisis that has lasted more than four months. However, the appointment is not yet official: Mureșan has requested a few hours to consider the situation before informing the head of state whether he will accept the position. Dan made his decision after consulting with all political parties represented in Parliament today at the Cotroceni presidential palace. "We don't have a clear majority, so I chose to nominate the person who received the most votes from parliamentary parties during today's consultations," the president explained. (ANSA).
