(ANSA) - KARPACZ, 09 SET - 'Development or collapse' - this is the essence of 'The Grand Strategy for Poland', the forthcoming book by former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, presented at the 35th Karpacz Economic Forum. Fresh from his ousting at the end of July from the right-wing PiS (Law and Justice) party, along with 40 other MPs, he is now the leader of the new Rozwòj Plus (Development Plus), Morawiecki was greeted by a throng of supporters, winning the remote battle for attention against his former deputy, Przemysław Czarnek, who has been designated as the PiS's (Law and Justice) future prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming general election in autumn 2027. "I have written a book on the future of Poland," he announced last Sunday: "I am interested in what lies ahead: where Poland will be in 10 or 20 years' time. In an era of chaos, Poland cannot simply allow itself to go with the flow. Because drifting aimlessly in a world of great change does not bring security. It brings weakness and missed opportunities, and could ultimately lead to a catastrophe. We need new solutions and original ideas. We need new approaches, courage and the capacity for initiative. We need bold decisions and a way out of the political impasse," he added. Former Prime Minister Morawiecki's policy paper sets out a long-term geopolitical vision to overcome passivity and steer the country's development in an era of global instability. The book proposes strengthening national security, creating opportunities for the younger generations and adopting a political realism grounded in a critical analysis of past government experiences. According to some reports, Morawiecki took advantage of his visit to Karpacz to meet with local representatives from Lower Silesia to encourage them to join his association, Development Plus. (ANSA).
