In a 2014 book, the case of paid snipers in Bosnia

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, NOV 11 - The affair of the 'safaris' in Sarajevo had been reported in a book - "The Bastards of Sarajevo" - published in 2014 and republished four years later, written by Luca Leone, journalist, writer and co-founder ofInfinity Editions, which had edited it. Leone, who had taken a long and deep interest in Bosnian affairs, especially related to the conflict, had spoken in 2022 on the occasion of the release of 'Sarajevo Safari,' the documentary by Slovenian Miran Zupanic. "Journalists working in Sarajevo, but also the entire besieged population of the city during the war, knew" about the case of paid snipers, he confirmed to ANSA. "Foreigners from all over Europe-there were also Italians-were paying at checkpoints run by Serbian paramilitaries in both Croatia and Bosnia and then spending a weekend shooting civilians" over Sarajevo, he said at the time. The writer had described in the book the sniping carried out by foreigners as a normal package tour by also talking about an Italian - led by the paramilitary and killerSnajper - quiet entrepreneur who is not content with poaching bears and other animals, but on the weekend of transgression wants to try, like others before him, theThrill of killing a human being. One shot, one hit one victim, all in safety, with a guarantee of escape included and impunity. (ANSA).
