(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 22 MAG - The New Alpe Adria Chamber of Commerce Network, whose activities were presented in Brussels, aims to support businesses in the Alpe Adria region and help create an economically favorable environment for cross-border and transnational collaboration. Established in 2007, the network includes 10 Chambers of Commerce from Italy, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. According to a statement, the presentation was preceded by a speech from Moray Gilland, head of the unit for Macro-Regions and Transnational and External Interregional Cooperation, who addressed the topic of transnational strategies relevant to the Alpine and Adriatic regions. Jürgen Mandl, president of the lead partner Carinthian Chamber of Commerce, along with representatives of the other network chambers, emphasized "the need to ensure a better balance between regulations governing economic activities and the actual conduct of business, by reducing obstacles to the realization of the Single Market." The network stressed the importance of promoting mobility and connectivity, particularly regarding infrastructure and corridors passing through Austria and Slovenia, as well as the port systems of the Upper Adriatic. "A concrete example," underlined Massimiliano Ciarrocchi, deputy president of the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, "is the Italian government's initiative to create a transport corridor, the Cotton Route, to support the growth of Indian industrial production. The plan involves moving goods from Mumbai to Dubai, then by rail over 3,000 kilometers through the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel, before transferringthem onto ships in Haifa to finally reach Trieste." In this context, the Port of Trieste is playing a strategic role. "Evidence of this," Ciarrocchi added, "is the increasing presence of logistics and industrial companies in the Trieste area, such as MSC, for example." The network's presidents' next meeting will be held this fall in Gorizia during the GO! 2025 event. (ANSA).
