Cooperation Fund: 4th international conference on logic and applications held in Dubrovnik

More than 30 lecturers and participants from European and North American countries gathered on 21-25 September 2015 for the fourth edition of the Logic and Applications (LAP 2015) International Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

During the five-day event, the participants had an opportunity to learn and discuss about state-of-the-art research and results in various fields of mathematical logic and applications. In particular, the impact of these fields on the development of information-based society was addressed: from safety procedures in pharmaceutical protocols, via cryptography and data privacy, to probabilistic reasoning, to hardware construction and verification. Several lines of joint research were also proposed with the aim of strengthening the collaboration amongst participants.

The event was co-financed by the CEI Cooperation Fund by covering mobility costs for PhD students from CEI Member Countries (Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia). The students were given an opportunity to present their research and obtain valuable feedback from more experienced colleagues during student sessions. Distinguished experts from France, USA, Canada, The Netherlands, UK, Spain, Macedonia, Croatia and Serbia each gave one hour-long plenary lectures, carefully tailored for early-stage researchers.

The next edition of the conference, LAP 2016, has been scheduled for 19-23 September 2016.
