EU Supported Project “SEEMORE” Launched

The CEI participated in the kick-off meeting of the EU Project “SEEMORE – Sustainable and Energy Efficient Mobility Options in tourist Regions in Europe”, held in Madeira (Portugal) on 23 - 24 April 2012.

SEEMORE is co-financed by the EU under the Intelligent Energy - Europe (IEE) Programme. The Programme’s mission is to boost clean and sustainable solutions and to promote the Europe-wide exchange of knowledge and dissemination. The project aims at changing travel behaviour of visitors in tourism regions in Europe towards more sustainable transport modes.   The CEI is Project Partner of a Consortium composed of 14 partners, mostly European regions, local authorities and consultancies in mobility, tourism and public transport. The three-year project budget amounts to 1.974,225 EUR, 75% of which is co-financed by the European Commission.
The launching event was opened by Ms. Conceição Estudante, Minister for Tourism and Transport of the Regional Government of Madeira (Portugal) and was an occasion to discuss project objectives and activities needed to achieve these objectives.   The CEI’s role is to promote the transfer of experience and know-how. The CEI had already organised a “SEEMORE Transfer Workshop” for a systematic sharing of experience among the regions in Madeira. The aim is to understand the most urgent problems the regions are facing and the already implemented actions in the field of mobility management.

On the basis of lessons learned and best and worst practices identified by SEEMORE participants, the CEI will involve additional regions and municipalities in several know-how transfer activities, in particular through Central European Transfer Seminars, tailor-made for authorities from the CEI region.   For more information: gostisa@cei.int
