Belarusian Designer Aliaksei Hur Wins CEI Award at International Design Contest “Trieste Contemporanea”

On 13 September, the jury of the ninth edition of the “International Design Competition Trieste Contemporanea” met at the CEI HQ. The competition, aimed at promoting the most original expressions of design, was open to designers from the 18 CEI countries as well as from Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Turkey.

Under the title “POCKET LUCK”, the competition required the design of a pocket lucky charm/talisman to be carried in all situations requiring a vibration of “positivity”, of altruistic courage, of critical spirit, of creativity and of necessary irony.

More than 300 projects were submitted by 23 countries. The jury selected 30 projects which will be realised and presented at the exhibition to be opened on 23 October, on the occasion of the awarding ceremony in Trieste (Studio Tommaseo).

The CEI Prize (3.000 EUR) for the best designer from one of the non-EU CEI countries was assigned to the Belarusian industrial designer Aliaksei Hur for the project “REDbook pendants”.

The Gillo Dorfles Prize – Trieste Contemporanea Design (4.000 EUR) for the best project was assigned to Marta Kis from Estonia;

The BEBA Prize (1.000 EUR) for the youngest designer among those selected was conferred to Ilya Choni from Ukraine born in 1998.

The jury, chaired by Cristina Morozzi (Italy), was composed of Susanna Legrenzi (Italy), Luca Nichetto (Italy), Daniele Capra (Italy), Gjon Radovani (Albania), Agnieszka Jacobson-Cielecka (Poland), Janka Vukmir (Croatia), Barbara Fabro (CEI).
