CEI Representatives in London for Top Level Meetings

Within the Montenegrin CEI Presidency, the meetings of the International Group of Experts (IGE) on the Strengthening of the CEI, the CEI Steering Committee and the CEI Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) were held in London last week.

The final draft of the Recommendations on the strengthening of the Initiative will be tabled at the forthcoming meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, due on 15 June in Budva. The document refers to political, financial and structural strengthening of the CEI through enhanced ties and dialogue with the European Union, improved and diversified funding, supported by strong fund raising actions, and a more active promotion campaign at local, regional and international level.

CNC Chairman, Ambassador Nebojsa Kaludjerović, reiterated the determination of Montenegro to contribute to the realisation of CEI goals and priorities by enhancing its efficiency and project dimension as well as strengthened cooperation with the EU.

The CEI Steering Committee, hosted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), confirmed the importance of the strong relations between the CEI and the EBRD and welcomed the success of the project-oriented approach.

This occasion was also an opportunity for a bilateral meeting between CEI Secretary General Pfanzelter, Ambassador Kaludjerović and EBRD Vice President, Horst Reichenbach, who, inter alia, confirmed his and EBRD’s support to the activities of the CEI, which is a long-standing partner, perfectly suited to complement EBRD activities in the region.
