(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 28 OTT - In Bulgaria, Yliana Yotova, the current head of state, won the presidential election on October 25. This was confirmed by the Central Election Commission, which published the official final results. Yotova, backed by Prime Minister Rumen Radev's "Progressive Bulgaria" party and the Socialists, received 34.75% of the vote, but not enough to win in the first round. As a result, Yotova will face Andrey Ghiurov, who finished second, in a runoff election next Sunday, November 1. Ghiurov was supported by the liberal pro-European coalition "Democratic Bulgaria," which allied with the "We Continue the Change" (PP) party, and received 31.95% of the vote. A debate between the two is scheduled for Thursday on BNT, the national public broadcaster. (ANSA).
