(ANSA) - KARPACZ, 09 SET - 'I envisage a centre-right coalition government in the near future.' Przemysław Czarnek, the PiS candidate for Prime Minister in the Polish general election in autumn 2027, is already looking ahead to the possibility of returning to government and sees the formation of a centre-right coalition as the way to achieve this. Interviewed by ANSA on the sidelines of an event on the future of the EU, during a debate with Francesco Tufarelli, Director-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Czarnek acknowledged that the recent split within PiS - with the expulsion of former Prime Minister Morawiecki and 40 other MPs - has created difficulties for the party and for the entire political bloc, but he does not regard it as an insurmountable obstacle. "This situation has put us in a difficult position," says Czarnek. "The difficulty is there, but there are also ways out of this difficulty." And amongst these ways, he sees precisely the possibility of reuniting the centre-right after the election. When asked about the possibility of a three-party governing coalition - should there be a majority of votes in the general election - with Konfederacja (a radical right-wing party, ed.) and Development Plus, Czarnek envisages "a joint centre-right government in the near future". The PiS candidate for Prime Minister does not rule out even those members who have left the party, extending an olive branch to Morawiecki and also referring to people "who no longer wish to be in PiS, but who remain our friends". "I hope that our friends, who no longer wish to be in PiS," he concludes, "will nevertheless form part of our alliance in the future - a centre-right alliance to bring about a change of government in Poland".
