The 6th Annual Ministerial Meeting on the Development of the South East Europe Core Regional Transport Network was held in Sarajevo on 1 December 2010 to discuss mainly on "Common Problems and Shared Solutions".
Hosted jointly by South East European Transport Observatory (SEETO) and the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the gathering was attended by high-level delegations from the Transport and Infrastructure Ministries of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo (under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244/99). The European Commission, RCC, and various transport-related institutions were also present.
On top of the Agenda were the key lessons learned by the SEETO process and the challenges to be faced in order to create an efficient transport system without physical barriers.The ultimate aim is the promotion of regional cooperation for the development of the Core Regional Transport Network as well as for the regional integration of the partners as a step towards European integration. On this occasion, the Multi Annual Plan 2011 was delivered. The Multi Annual Plan represents a regional transport planning document jointly agreed upon by all Regional Participants in order to serve as a platform for the most efficient use of funds for the development of the Core Regional Transport Network and help to streamline the transport reforms. In this context, it may be recalled that at the meeting in Podgorica last October, the high-level representatives of the Ministries for Economic Development and Industry of the CEI Member States discussed at length on the negative overall economic impact of the operational difficulties of railways in the Region.
