The workshop taking place at the CEI Headquarters, organised in cooperation with the WHO, is entitled STRENGTHENING PHC MODELS OF CARE AND FAMILY MEDICINE IN THE WESTERN BALKANS TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES OF WORKFORCE. This is the third edition of a series of technical events organised jointly with the WHO in the primary health care within the WHO roadmap for Health and Wellbeing in the Western Balkans, thanks to the financial support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

The focus of the 2023 meeting will be on primary health care (PHC) models, family medicine and workforce, with an exchange of knowledge about the current state of PHC and health workforce in WBs countries. There will be a specific deep dive into workforce shortage, attrition and retention challenges. The meeting will bring together public health authorities and representatives from the Western Balkans, to suppoty relevant stakeholders in prioritising prioritize and planning actions around the primary health care workforce. Additionally, the CEI will involve Italian and regional medical experts to facilitate further cross-country learning and knowledge exchange enabling further synergies for the future.

The participants will also have the chance to attend an onsite field visit to the community hospital in Trieste on the last day of the workshop.
