CEI at CENTRAL EUROPE Programme Annual Conference 2013 in Padua, Italy

On 15-16 May 2013 the CENTRAL EUROPE Annual Conference took place in Padua, Italy at a crucial moment for transnational cooperation, since the programming period 2007 – 2013 is about to end and the new period 2014-2020 is about to be defined.

The programme authorities took this opportunity to collect inputs from stakeholders and project partners under the motto “Cooperating across borders to make our cities and regions a better place to live and work”.
The CEI attended the event dedicated to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and participated in transport workshops as partner of Central Europe “EDITS” Project. Together with the partners of SONORA, FLAVIA, CHAMPIONS and LOGICAL projects,  the results, benefits, gaps to be bridged and the definition of new priorities were discussed.

The next transnational cooperation will need a theme-based and result-oriented approach and will have to be in line with the EU Cohesion policy 2014-2020. All funds, not only those of the European Transnational cooperation, will be activated for this purpose. Another new feature concerns the focus of new operational programmes on macroregional strategies: the Baltic sea, the Danube and Atlantic Strategy as well as for the Adriatic-Ionian Strategy. The thematic orientation will focus on i) innovation and competitiveness;  ii) energy and low carbon economy; iii) Environment and resource efficiency; and iv) sustainable transport investment priority.
