EU-funded Project EDITS Launched in Vienna

The kick-off meeting of the Project European Digital Traffic Infrastructure Network for Intelligent Transport Systems (EDITS)  took place in Vienna on 3-4 October, 2012.

The project aims at enhancing the mobility of Central European citizens by providing interoperable and multimodal traveller information services based on a harmonised platform for data and information exchange. In order to reach this goal, existing traveller information services as well as traffic management solutions will either be set up or improved.

By providing quality services of this kind - covering different modes of transport as well as regions - the mobility behaviour (modal shift) of a single traveller is likely to change.   The CEI is in charge of actions dealing with communication, knowledge management and dissemination and will also promote technical activities in the cross-border area of Austria-Italy-Slovenia.   EDITS is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project embraces 13 partners from 5 countries (Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia), coordinated by AustriaTech (technical arm of the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology). The total budget amounts to 2.42 Million EUR  and will last 30 months (July 2012 – December 2014)   For information: birnbaum@cei.int
