(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 30 - Today EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, praised Montenegro for the opening of the last chapter in the negotiations with the European Union. "I am pleased that Montenegro has opened today the last chapter on the competition. Focus is now needed on reforms, especially in the rule of law, so Montenegro can progress further on the EU path", Varhely said. "It is a clear sign of our commitment to the Western Balkans and enlargement policy," the EU Commissioner added. As of today, Montenegro opened 33 chapters. Though, the country succeeded in closing just three of them - on Research, Education and External Relations - by completing the alignment process with EU standards.(ANSA).
