Serbia: 54% citizens in favor of the EU, 24% against

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JANUARY 22 - 54% of Serbs are in favor of their country's accession to the EU, compared to 24% against. Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic said, reporting on the results of the latest periodic survey conducted by the ministry. If a referendum on joining the European Union were held tomorrow, the minister added, another 10% of Serbs would not know what to answer, while 12% would not vote at all. The survey carried out according to Eurobarometer standards involved 1,050 Serbian citizens over 18 years old. Serbia, along with Montenegro, is engaged in the EU accession negotiations, in which 18 chapters out of 35 have been opened so far. (ANSA).
