Romania: PM to Juncker, 'willing to build a more united EU'

(ANSA) - BUCHAREST, JAN 11 - Romanian premier Viorica Dancila, who met today in Bucharest with the EC president Jean-Claude Juncker at the official start of the first half of Romania's EU presidency, gave reassurance that her country is willing to continue its European path. ''In today's meeting with president Juncker, I confirmed that we are very confident of being able to develop a constant cooperation and constructive dialogue as a continuation of the good cooperation we have had so far,'' said Dancila. ''We are fully aware of our role - she added - and we confirm that we are willing to build a more united and cohesive European Union''. ''The debates on the future of Europe, the future EU parliament elections and Brexit are some of the issues that will characterize our presidency'', said Viorica Dancila, who in recent days, commenting on some doubts expressed by Brussels, had underlined the good and strong preparation of Romania for its first semester of presidency of the European Council. This morning Juncker also met with Romania's president, Klaus Iohannis (Conservative). (ANSA).
