Jansa with Meloni in Rome, towards an action plan between Italy and Slovenia

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 05 OTT - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša met today at Palazzo Chigi. According to Palazzo Chigi's statement, the two leaders "shared the goal of elevating their bilateral partnership to a strategic level through the upcoming adoption of an Action Plan focused on priority sectors such as defence, energy, connectivity, research and innovation, and culture." According to the statement, the conversation provided an opportunity to discuss priorities for the upcoming European Council, beginning with strengthening the Union's competitiveness and structurally lowering energy costs for households and businesses. In this regard, Meloni "highlighted recent initiatives promoted by Italy, together with other Member States, advocating for a more pragmatic European approach to the energy transition and industrial policy." Palazzo Chigi went on to say that "the next Multiannual Financial Framework must provide adequate resources for both the Union's new priorities and traditional policies, such as cohesion and agriculture," and that the two leaders "finally discussed the management of migration flows, with a particular focus on strengthening the external dimension, returns, and innovative solutions."
