(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 18 SET - Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, will visit the Western Balkans from September 30 to October 2, a Commission spokesperson confirmed during a press briefing. Von der Leyen is visiting the region for the sixth year in a row. During her trip, the President will visit Tirana, Pristina, and Skopje, where she will meet with heads of state and government and see EU-funded projects. Discussions will centre on "the next steps in the region's partners' path towards EU accession and progress on gradual integration, supported by the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans," the spokesperson explained. "In light of the upcoming parliamentary and general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, the Commission President will visit both countries at a later date," she said. (ANSA).
