CEI Fund at the EBRD
The distribution by countries of TCs and their cumulative committed and disbursed value since 1993 demonstrates the CEI’s focus on regional projects. Almost half of the resources were committed to regional operations through. As to country allocations, the focus of the Fund’s main beneficiaries has gradually drifted away from the initial Central European countries (currently EU members) to the Western Balkan and the CEI European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) States, which have become, since 2007, the core of the CEI Fund’s actions.
The finded TC projects cover six main sector categories: agribusiness, business and finance, energy, institutional development, municipal infrastructure and services, SME support, and transport. Transport is the sector benefitting the most from TC funds, followed by SME support and institutional development. This sector allocation has responded to the needs and orientations defined 10 years ago. Given the emergence of new priorities regarding local economic development, environment and energy, the CEI Fund has realigned its allocation priorities.
