The two-day international workshop and final conference held in Trieste on 17-19 March was organised by the ICS, Consorzio Italiano di Solidarietà – Ufficio Rifugiati, Onlus (Italian Consortium for Solidarity – Refugees Office NGO).
The CEI Fellowship for Writers in Residence is an award aimed at encouraging cross-border cooperation and promotion in the field of literature for young writers from non-EU CEI countries. The winner receives a cash award of 5,000 EUR for a three-month residence permit in any CEI Member State of the candidate’s choice.

Representatives of the  Moldovan know how recipient (Basin Water Management Authority of Moldova) and the Romanian donor institution (Business Development Group) gathered in Chisinau on 25 February 2016 on the occasion of the kick-off meeting of the project  Leap forward with flexible and appropriate wastewater solutions in Moldova (WaterLEAP).

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Crnadak held a briefing with the Ambassadors of CEI Member States.

The meeting, held in East Sarajevo on 15 March, aimed at presenting the priorities of the CEI Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016 as well as the main planned activities.

The Young Leaders’ Forum (YLF), held in Budapest on 8-10 March, featured outstanding young professionals, aged 25-35, soon-to-become important actors and decision-makers in the field of innovation, research, and development.

The KineDok conference on Alternative Distribution presented new trends in the field of alternative distribution and gave participants the chance to meet the representatives of European distribution platforms to discuss innovative ways of bringing documentary films closer to the audience.

The project “Capacity building and transfer of knowledge for increasing and improving professional skills in waste management in the Region of Vinnytsia” started its operations with a kick-off meeting in Vinnytsia, Ukraine on 2 March.
 
The first meeting of the Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) under the CEI Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place in Trieste on 8 March 2016.
 
Amb. Milos Prica, CEI National Coordinator for BiH, presented the Presidency’s priorities and calendar of events, in particular the envisaged high-level meetings to be held this year.
 
The CEI Fund at the EBRD -  fully financed by Italy - has recently approved the technical assistance project “Independent System Operator of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Consultant for the Project Implementation Unit”, with a financial commitment amounting to 400,000 EUR.

Four Technical Cooperation (TC) projects targeting the transport, energy and policy dialogue sectors have been approved for financing by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, entirely contributed by Italy, with an overall financial commitment of 795,000 EUR.  This demonstrates the successful cooperation between the CEI and the EBRD in supporting the economic and social transformation process of non-EU CEI countries, thus facilitating their European path through regional cooperation.

In the framework of the postgraduate International Master in Public Procurement Management (IMPPM) at the University of Rome ToR Vergata (Italy), the Italian Association of Motorway and Tunnel Concessionaire Companies (AISCAT) has recently established a scholarship for the 2016 academic year. Candidates should have some experience in procurement and preferably be EU citizens in order to avoid delays due to visa issues. The Programme begins on 29 February and full time attendance in Rome is required until 5 July 2016.

SME representatives from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered in Belgrade, Serbia, on 19 February 2016 to attend the conference “Small and medium-sized enterprises - regional networking and business improvement“.
 
The main objective of the Conference was to boost SME development in the CEI region through exchange of knowledge and good practices, networking and dialogue with public officials in support of a business-friendly environment.
 
CEI Secretary General Ambassador Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri attended the Western Balkans Investment Summit hosted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at its headquarters in London on 22 February.
 
About 170 scientists from worldwide gathered in Vienna, on 14-17 February for the 41st Conference of the Middle European Cooperation in Statistical Physics (MECO41).
 
On 26 January 2016, the CEI-ener2i-MD project team from the Austrian know-how provider the Center for Social Innovation ZSI and its Moldovan recipient partners from the Agency of Innovation and Technology Transfer of Moldova (AITT)  and  the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) met with the grantees of the Innovation Voucher Competition for Moldova to review the implementation and outcomes of the eleven funded projects.

February 2016 marks the official kick-off of the FUELPAGE project aimed at transferring best practices of fuel quality monitoring from the EU and the Czech Republic to the beneficiary target group in Serbia.
