XXIII Summer Seminar for Young Public Policy Professionals “Future Scenarios for Central and Eastern Europe in Times of Uncertainty”

On 11-16 June in Varna, Bulgaria, the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) organised the 23rd edition of its annual cross-sectoral forum - the Summer Seminar for Young Public Policy Professionals, under the title “Future Scenarios for Central and Eastern Europe in Times of Uncertainty”.  The event brought together 30 participants from state institutions, academia and policy-oriented research centres in CEI Member States, dealing with topics related to the European Union and the countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

The Seminar served as a platform for expert-level discussions, an exchange of views on some of the most pressing issues concerning CEE countries in times of uncertainty and to elaborate a strategic outlook for the development perspectives ahead of the economies and societies.

This year’s highlights regarded a study visit to the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna and a special address delivered by Mr. Mircea Geoana, NATO Deputy Secretary General.

Speakers and lecturers were from: the EU External Action Service, UN Economic Commission for Europe, College of Europe, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”, Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy – Varna, Institute of Public Administration – Bulgaria; Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA), Center for the Study of Democracy – Sofia, Centre for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz, E3G – Brussels, Hanns Seidel Foundation, Economic Policy Institute – Sofia, European Policy Institute – Skopje.
