Romania: green light to 'Union Highway'

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 08 NOV - The Romanian Chamber of Deputies has adopted a law for the construction of the Iasi-Targu Mures, known as the "Union Highway", connecting the regions of Moldova and Transylvania. The highway, which will run from Targu Mures, in the north-central part of Romania, to Iasi and the Ungheni border crossing to Moldova, in the East, will be 320 kilometres-long and the costs are estimated at 8.9 billion euros, the portal Romania Insider reported. The Romanian government has included the project on a list of investments to be implemented in public-private partnership, but the highway may be eligible for EU funding, Romania Insider informed. The law doesn't set a deadline for completing this project. (ANSA).
