Germany: GDP in the 1st quarter down 2.2%, consumption drops

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 25 - German GDP decreased by 2.2% in the first quarter of the year compared to the previous three months and by 1.9% compared to the same period of 2019. The statistical institute reported, confirming the flash estimates already published. The seasonally adjusted figure, which was measured today for the first time, shows an annual 2,3% fall. In the first phase of the coronavirus crisis, between January and March, consumption decreased by 3.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, and exports fell by 3.1%. (ANSA).
