Coronavirus: Risi (KFOR), we have to fight together

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APRIL 4 - "The situation is very serious. It's serious here in the Balkans, in Europe and around the world. Therefore, we have to fight it all together," said the Italian Major General Michele Risi, the Commander of the NATO-led mission KFOR, in Kosovo. Risi spoke addressed the local media in Kosovo on Thursday, together with the Mayors of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakic and Mitrovica South, Agim Bathiri, which called upon the local communities to abide by the preventive measures undertaken to contain the spread of COVID-19, a KFOR statement said. Mitrovica is a major city in Kosovo, largely divided along ethnic lines, with a predominantly Serbian population in the North, an Albanian majority in the South. "This virus knows no nationality, state borders or ethnic background" said Bahtiri. Citizens have "to take responsibility and by saving themselves first, saving everyone around them, starting with their loved ones, then neighbors, friends and family," Rakic added. (ANSA).
