Croatia invites 7countries to submit offers for fighter jets

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JANUARY 15 - Croatia has invited seven countries to submit offers for the delivery of fighter jets, the Croatian government said on Wednesday. The request for offers was sent to the United States for F-16 planes, to Sweden, for JAS Gripen, to France (Rafale), to Italy (Eurofighter) and to Norway, Greece and Israel (F-16). The first responses are expected by next May and the entire selection process should end by August 2020, when the state commission delegated for the procurement of the fighter jets will submit its proposal to the government. In January last year, Croatia cancelled the purchase of 12 multi-purpose US-made F-16 Barak jets from Israel, after the deal was blocked by the United States, the specialized portal SeeNews recalled.
