(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JANUARY 15 - A show on images from the 'Book of dreams' by legendary Italian film director Federico Fellini was inaugurated on Tuesday night in Belgrade to mark the 100th anniversary of the his birth. The exhibit runs until January 26. A retrospective of 17 Fellini movie will also be presented, including Luci del varietà (1950), Lo sceicco bianco (1952), I vitelloni (1953), La strada (1954), Giulietta degli spiriti (1965), La dolce vita(1960), Amarcord (1973), La città delle donne (1980) and others. The two events have been organized by the Italian cultural institute in Belgrade, together with the Yugoslav film library. The opening of the exhibit was attended by Italy's ambassador to Serbia, Carlo Lo Cascio, who stressed the great meaning of Fellini's art. ''Federico Fellini's name has become a symbol, his films create different emotions because they can be dramatic, poetic, scary'', the ambassador said. The 'Book of dreams' is a diary in which Fellini - advised by psychoanalyst Ernst Bernhard - elaborated his dreams through drawings, which also served as inspiration for his movies. The reproduction of a selection of drawings from the Book of dreams, which was acquired by the Fellini Foundation in 2006, are on display in Belgrade. The Book of dreams was gifted to the City of Rimini in 2015 and is currently on display at the city's museum. It includes two volumes of over 400 pages. The sketches exhibited in Belgrade focus on key issues for Fellini - eroticism, travelling, history, power, cinema, fashion, art, literature and religion. (ANSA).
