(ANSA) - VENICE, 12 NOVEMBER - A statutory change to be introduced today will allow the Istrian Region of Croatia to join as an "active observer" the "Euregio without borders" network, announced Peter Kaiser, governor of the Austrian Land of Carinthia and chairman of the cross-border cooperation group, which is holding today its 15th assembly in Venice. Among the other topics addressed in the Venetian meeting of the EGTC, is the 'transposition' of the UN's sustainability objectives, "with the involvement - Kaiser underlined - of NGOs, businesses, and companies, an important step for the future orientation of our works." Cross-border cooperation projects between ports and logistics operators in the area are also going on and there is stronger cooperation between the universities of the three regions within the European project. Kaiser then underlined the "removal of barriers in an increasingly cohesive way, the demolition of borders to make collaboration between our regions even more effective." The Veneto Councilor for Programming and EU Funds, Federico Caner, underlined "the importance of seeing Istria as an active observer within the EGTC, a new membership that allows widening the area of collaboration between our regions."
