Poland: Erste, industrial growth recovers in January

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 20 FEB - The industrial output growth in Poland accelerated to 6.1% year on year in January, beating market expectations of a 3.6% growth, Erste Group Research said in a statement today. "The industrial output increased in majority of branches in January" and the data demonstrate the "resistance of the industry to slowing external environment," Erste Group Research noted, anticipating however that the general scenario indicates that the growth trend should be slowing in the coming months. Erste added that the GDP growth in the first quarter of 2019 in Poland is likely to reach around 4% year-on-year, while "in the whole 2019 we see economy growing 3.8%," slightly above the 3.5% recently forecasted by the European Commission.
