Kosovo: a new dialogue platform presented to parliament

(ANSA) - PRISTINA, FEB 15 - The new dialogue platform with Belgrade was presented today for the Kosovo parliament approval. The document was drafted by the negotiating team led by Fatmir Limaj and Shpend Ahmeti, and that will probably raise strong criticism from the Serbian counterpart. According to local media, among the main issues in this platform are the recognition of the independence of Kosovo, the abolition of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the creation of a special tribunal for war crimes committed by the Serbs, in parallel with the one already active in The Hague to prosecute the crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The document also establishes that Pristina will not sign any agreement until all these issues are resolved. No mention in the platform to the question of customs duties on Serbian and Bosnian imports increased by 100%, the abolition of which is considered by the government in Belgrade as a prerequisite for the continuation of dialogue with Pristina. The Kosovar government has not yet taken into account any request for the abolition of the duties coming from Belgrade, the US and the EU. After discussing the platform, the parliament will vote on it. (ANSA).
