Serbia: Bulgaria, Premier Borissov reiterates his support

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 15 - Bulgaria's premier Boyko Borissov (conservative), who is visiting Belgrade today, reiterated the support of the government in Sofia for the integration of Serbia into the European Union. He also emphasized that the Bulgarian government intends to intensify bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of transport, infrastructure, and energy. Serbia, said Borissov, deserves to be part of the EU's family. ''I am convinced of this and I see that the country is on the right track: Bulgaria intends to do everything possible to foster the integration of our neighbor in the European Union'', said the premier. During a ceremony which was held on the occasion of the National Day of Serbia, Borissov received from the president Aleksandar Vucic a high honor for his merits and commitment to strengthening the friendship and collaboration between the two countries. In addition to the Bulgarian premier, Vucic gave honors to about sixty other personalities and institutions active in different fields. The National Day of Serbia recalls two important events that occurred in the past: on February 15, 1804, when the first insurrection against Ottoman rule began, and in 1835, when the first Serbian constitution was promulgated.
